FULL-TIME 

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT The senior accountant is a full-time employee hired to assist in the accounting of all financial assets and liabilities for Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and associated subsidiary companies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions; prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Completes monthly standard and non-standard journal entries and account reconciliations. Manages the activity of various accounts, providing financial statements as needed. Mees the month-end closing deadlines and assist in preparing a variety of financial statements. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. Provides assistance during public events including, but not limited to, completing any treasury or financial tasks. Reconciles all banking/investment statements monthly and by established deadline. Assists in maintaining timely and accurate retail purchase orders and receipt processing, retail reporting and analysis of retail inventory and resolution of differences. Maintains general ledger to properly reflect income, expense, assets, liabilities, and net assets of all companies associated with Stan Hywet. Processes bi-weekly payroll journal entries. Provides backup to other accounting staffers as needed Reviews and signs off on AP invoice batches. Prepares special schedules and analysis as requested/required.

Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Advanced knowledge of Excel required as is a minimum of 5 years accounting experience. Non-profit experience preferred.


FACILITIES TECHNICIAN   The Facilities Technician is a full-time employee who reports to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance. They work with the operations division assisting in daily and special projects and with the preservation, conservation, maintenance, and repair/restoration tasks associated with Stan Hywet Hall’s historic structures and site features.
Essential duties and responsiblities: Construct, install and repair structures and fixtures of in a variety of material with utilizing hand tools and power tools. Maintain facilities and equipment with skills that include electrical, carpentry, machining, mill-working, painting, and masonry work. Construct and install exhibit structures, electric wiring and fixtures. Other duties as assigned. Weekend work and non-traditional hours required.

Education/Experience: knowledge and ability to operate all equipment and tools related to the job. Must have painting, carpentry, and basic electrical skills. Basic HVAC knowledge, a plus. Ability to copper sweat, solder, mig weld, arc weld and braze, a plus. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License. A minimum of a High School diploma, or equivalent. A technical or associate degree preferred. Knowledge of historic preservation/conservation including general knowledge of all building systems and components.


CURATOR - Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is seeking a passionate and experienced Curator to join our dedicated team. As the steward of our extensive and diverse collection, the curator will play a crucial role in preserving and interpreting the rich history of the estate.

Responsibilities include overseeing the care, preservation, and accessibility of Stan Hywet’s collection, which encompasses historic architecture, furnishings, decorative arts, agricultural equipment, and archival materials. The Curator will ensure that our collections are managed according to the highest professional standards, while also serving as an ambassador and expert resource for the public, scholars, and the broader community.

Curator Job Responsiblities
- Manage and protect the valuable collection, ensuring its long-term sustainability and accessibility.
- Lead support staff, interns, and volunteers, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Develop and implement collection management policies that align with museum best practices.
- Conduct ongoing research and documentation to enhance the understanding of the collection.
- Collaborate with other departments to contribute to the museum's strategic goals and represent Stan Hywet on a local and national level.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in museum studies, history, anthropology, public history, or art history, or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a museum or cultural institution, with a proven track record of curatorial leadership.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, collections management software, and web applications.
- Excellent research, analytical, organizational, and writing skills.
- A deep understanding of current technical and practical museum issues.
- A passion for history and material culture, coupled with strong leadership skills.

EDUCATION MANAGER - The Education Manager is a full-time employee of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, and is responsible for the design and implementation of high-quality educational programming, used to enhance public events and outreach opportunities to engage toddlers, school-age children and families, college-age students, adults and professional educators. This person will participate in developing the education department’s organizational goals, strategies and measures, and expand and oversee educational programming, ensuring all guests receive the highest level of learning opportunities while visiting Stan Hywet. They will partner with an advisory group of volunteer educators; and development relationships and opportunities with other organizations, including area schools, universities, other nonprofits, community partners, governmental agencies, and green industry associations.

Responsibilities include managing year-round educational programs for adults, youth, and children that may include adult workshops, annual symposia and conferences, youth camp and programming, family programming, service learning, and other programs. They will also supervise and train direct report education staff and education department volunteers.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in education, science, museum studies, history, natural history or related field or equivalent background, 7+ years of experience as a museum educator or K-12 school educator, prior experience in a supervisory role, familiarity designing and managing successful projects and programs, and demonstrated experience in budget planning and prioritization of projects, programs and activities while meeting organizational requirements.


MUSEUM EDUCATOR FOR SCHOOL PROGRAMS - Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is seeking a dynamic and engaging individual to join our team as a Museum Educator for School Programs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about history, art, and horticulture, and have strong teaching and communication skills. As a museum educator, you will be responsible for creating and delivering exceptional educational experiences for K-12 students both on- and off-site.

Your duties will include developing and implementing curriculum, collaborating with staff, and maintaining strong relationships with community institutions. You will also play a key role in ensuring that our programs align with Stan Hywet's mission and engage students.

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, natural science, or history. Additionally, at least five years of experience developing, leading, or evaluating formal educational programs for children is preferred. Demonstrated experience creating and implementing standards-aligned programming for K-12 students and educators is also essential.

MUSEUM EDUCATOR FOR YOUTH AND FAMILY - Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is seeking a passionate and experienced museum educator to join our team and create engaging educational experiences for families and children. As the Museum Educator for Youth and Family Programs, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a variety of programs, including workshops, tours, camps, and special events. You will also collaborate with community partners, support the development of the site interpretation plan, and assist with fundraising efforts.

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, experience working with children, and a strong background in developing and evaluating educational programs. Additionally, experience developing interpretive materials and working with volunteers is preferred.

Grounds Technician  The Grounds Technician is a seasonal employee that is under the guidance of a senior horticulturalist to complete specific tasks in an assigned garden area. Position performs a variety of basic landscape care such as weeding, watering, pruning and mulching.  Power equipment and hand tools will be used to maintain and preserve the historic grounds for guests to enjoy.
     Qualified candidates should possess knowledge of a variety of plant material and landscape maintenance practices, as well as the ability to operate relevant equipment to perform the job. Must have valid Ohio driver’s license.
