Founders' Day Weekend

June 11-14 | 10am-6:00pm

From June 11–14, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens welcomes guests for Founders’ Day Weekend, marking the 91st anniversary of Alcoholics Anonymous and honoring the movement’s roots in Akron.

With primary observances on Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13, visitors can reflect on the historic connection between Stan Hywet, the Oxford Group, and the first meeting of Dr. Bob Smith and Bill Wilson—a moment that helped shape a movement that has touched millions of lives. Throughout the weekend, guests may enjoy free self-guided tours of the historic Gate Lodge.

On Saturday, June 13, enjoy live music from Marc Lee Shannon at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. A complimentary shuttle will also run between University of Akron and Stan Hywet, with the first pickup at 10:00am and the last departure from Stan Hywet at 5:15pm.

On Sunday, June 14 at 11am, Founders’ Day visitors are invited to join Adult Yoga at member pricing. This all-levels class offers a peaceful way to reflect and recharge in the gardens. Registration is required, capacity is limited to 25, and guests should bring their own mat.

Whether you come with a personal connection or an interest in local history, Founders’ Day Weekend offers a thoughtful and welcoming space for remembrance, learning, and renewal.
